I’ve had the pleasure of getting a sneak peek behind the doors of a brand new tall clothing shop called “The Height.” And based on what I’ve seen, when I tell you this is something to look forward to, trust and believe!
I will say that it is ingrained in our company culture that we will offer stylish clothing at fair and reasonable prices – it’s just what we’re about and who we are – Kia Manuel
I also had a chance to chat with the owner of The Height, Kia, and I love the vision she has set out for her company. With a focus on style, quality, and affordability for today’s tall woman, she has the winning recipe!
Sneak Peek – Ombré Leggings
In the next few weeks, the doors will be opening, and what The Height has in store is something to look forward to. I can hardly wait for you to see it. I can’t reveal what’s coming yet, but I can say that I look great (not to toot my own horn) in a piece I was able to review from The Height. I’ll be posting the full look on opening day.

How tall are you?
5’10 (with exceptionally long legs!)
How long have you been working on starting your tall clothing store?
I have been thinking about starting a clothing store for tall women for practically my entire life, but I have been actively working on THE HEIGHT for almost two years.
Why start a clothing store for tall women?
Tall women today have more options for clothing than ever before, and I think that’s great. The more competition and options we have for shopping, the better. When I began looking into starting this business, I noticed there were not really any affordable, contemporary, and trendy clothing stores just for tall women. Some retailers have tall sections, but it is really an afterthought. Kind of an, “Oh, by the way, we also have a tall section.” So I wanted to create a clothing store dedicated to tall women to give them another choice.
Sometimes stores overcharge for tall clothing just because they can. More often than not, we are paying more for a garment just because we are tall. I like to call this the “Tall Tax” – just because you’re tall, you have to pay $80 for something that normally sells for $40. Everyone isn’t in a position to spend that kind of money on clothing all the time. I think tall women need a store dedicated to them that will offer affordable, trendy clothing options. I don’t come from money, so it really means something to me to be able offer tall women affordable clothing.
Has your height affected your experience with clothes and shopping?
Absolutely! I’m sure every tall women as their own “coming of age” story about their height. I, like many other tall women, was insecure about my height when I was growing up. But, fortunately, I was able to move past it and get on with life.
How would you say you stand apart from what exists now for tall women?
We feel we stand apart from what currently exists because we will offer a mix of classic, contemporary, urban, chic, trendy, or otherwise cool clothing for tall women at a fair and reasonable price. We are focused on style and affordability.
Is there any one piece you’re the most excited about? If yes, what is it?
I am really excited about everything. The items that are the most unique are the ombre leggings and a risqué maxi dress coming in late summer. I love the leggings because they are just so different from what is out there AND they were made and hand dyed in the USA. America is not known for clothing manufacturing, so it’s really special to be able to offer something with the Made in America stamp on it that could potentially find its way around the world. The maxi dress coming in late summer is definitely a statement piece, and it was designed long enough to wear with heels!
How would you compare your prices to the prices of existing tall specialty stores?
I’m not sure there is a direct comparison. I think all tall stores do their best to offer clothing at a price that is in line with their company culture and philosophy. I will say that it is ingrained in our company culture that we will offer stylish clothing at fair and reasonable prices – it’s just what we’re about and who we are. How that compares to other tall specialty stores will be up to our customers to decide.
What is the longest inseam you plan on providing, as of now?
Our longest inseam at this time is 37 inches and our longest maxi dress is 66.5 inches.
When can we look forward to the grand opening? Spring? Summer? Fall? Winter?
Our website will be live in late spring/early summer. We can’t wait to be another option for tall women!
I can’t wait either ~ TNN
