Happy Monday, ladies!
There is no better way to start this week than with this Traci high-waisted long length maxi skirt with pockets by Dimiloc.
There’s two things I want to go over with you today. One is this look, obviously. Second is, I want to introduce you to Dimiloc! Dimiloc is a friend to the tall girls, hunti! They carry stylish pieces, and the pieces come in regular and long. Their long is actually a good length. It’s not just slightly longer than regular. More than just the maxi skirts, most all of their pieces come with a regular/tall option, including most tops and midi skirts.
Candace Lee is the Designer and Owner of DIMILOC. More than I am impressed with Candace’s company, I am impressed by her! She is EVERY WOMAN, indeed. I had a chance to chat with her about her company and the work she puts in behind the scenes, and I’m so excited to share it with you.
Tell me a little about yourself:
I am a native Texan, newly married and to date, I have no children. In 2008 I graduated from the University of North Texas with a B.F.A. in Fashion Design. Since starting my company I have learned that one must wear many hats as an entrepreneur. Therefore, I do it all. Most people don’t know this, nor do they believe it, but alas it is true. I am very hands-on, I am the makeup artist, hair stylist, fashion designer, wardrobe stylist, creative director, photographer, photo editor, marketing analyst, blogger…etc. It’s certainly a full time job, but it’s quite fulfilling to make a career out of your God given gift. In one word, I am blessed.
Tell me a bit about DIMILOC:
DIMILOC is an exclusive women’s apparel line that began in 2009. The culture of the brand is modest and modern, with designs inspired by new age simplicity, classic silhouettes and busy lifestyles. It’s a brand that women can rely on; a brand that now gives women from all over the world, direct access to fashions that compliment their unique body types, lifestyles and personalities.
What’s behind the name?
So often I’m asked about the name DIMILOC and what it means. It seems that most people expect some life altering and philosophical answer. Haha. Dimiloc is simply a marriage of two names. “Dimi” is the first half of my mother’s middle name and “Loc” is the first half of my maiden name. My mother has always been very supportive and inspirational as a top notch fashionista herself. Although now married, my maiden name holds great importance to me. It serves as a reminder of who I was as well as who I am and to always maintain my own identity. This has served great purpose for my brand identity, especially in a world so obsessed with fads and bandwagons.
Who is your target market?
The DIMILOC target market is made up of women between 30-50 years of age who reside within the U.S.A. This market is comprised of college graduates in professions such as educators, lawyers, ministers, and doctors. These women aren’t just busy professionals; they are also mothers and wives. Talk about a full-time job! Their faith is of great importance and they maintain a healthy degree of social responsibility.
I love your pieces from your accessories, the beautiful maxi dresses, all the way to your skirts. Do you make the clothing yourself?
Yes, I make all of the clothing and accessories myself. I begin with the concept, followed by a sketch, draft a pattern, create a sample and ultimately produce the final product. All done right here in the good ol’ U.S. of A.
I see that you have an option to purchase longer inseams for tall women. (THANK YOU!!)
What motivated you to include longer inseams for tall women in your business plan?
Well the motivation behind including longer inseams is due to the increasing demand. Initially all lengths were the same (Standard). As more customers over 6’ began to reach out to me, I then realized that there was a whole world of gorgeous and stylish women that were not being serviced. Not to mention the long-limbed models who swooned during photoshoots over my designs with long sleeves and hemlines! Side Note: At 5’7”, which I would say is average, shopping for maxi dresses/skirts was so heartbreaking. Imagine, finding a beautiful dress and looking down only to see that it stops well above your ankle! THE WORST! If for any reason you wanted to wear a heel with it…forget about it! For this reason, maxi items on my website are designed to fall below the ankle and be long enough to wear with a nice heel, without that awkward length throwing off your proportion.
What can we look forward to seeing from Dimiloc in the future?
Look forward to more silhouette varieties, a very exciting expansion (top secret) haha, and of course my customer’s fashion favorites will become staples on the DIMILOC site. Possibly, even longer inseams if the market demands it!
A couple of DIMILOC pieces I love!
Snapchat is really becoming a thing. I held off from using it for as long as I could, and I still don’t snap an awful lot. A lot of companies and people are jumping on Snapchat to allow us to see a glimpse into their every day lives. Are you a snapchatter?
I am on Snapchat. However, I am a newbie and still working out the kinks and finding my way around. I may promote it more once this old dog learns a few new tricks! (wink)
